The news that Blizzard were planning to bring microtransactions to World of Warcraft was hinted at last week, but  it has now been announced that in-game microtransactions are officially coming to the still popular MMO. This does not, however, mean that the subscription service has been abolished, unlike many MMOs in the last few years that have become free-to-play. Here's a screencap of the revelation by Bashiok, a community manager:


The 'Lesser Charms of Good Fortune' are items that give players a higher rate of success in obtaining decent gear drops. This, along with XP boosts means that players will be able to pay in order to save time levelling and grinding for items. So far, reactions are mixed, with some players feeling that giving easy access to these boosts cheapens the experience.
