Trine 2
Sadly in this day and age, most gamedev companies have been making sequels to a majority of great titles that have been quite lackluster. Far from the original creation in terms of game play and furthermore, completely ignore their user base in terms of feedback. However, this is Frozenbyte software so take everything I said and apply the opposite. This is the golden standard of what EVERY SEQUEL SHOULD BE.
Trine 2 takes place a few years after Trine 1, where all you need to know is that 3 heroes: A female thief, a practicing wizard, and a bulbous though-dim-witted knight, joined together under the calling of a magical artifact called the “Trine” (hence the name). They banded together by mistake, or fate if you will, and vanquished the evil from the land. Years have passed and now the Trine is calling upon the heroes again to band together and save the land from evil... again.
Trine takes place in a mystical fantasy fairy-tale world, even with commentary from a soft spoken “Grandpa tell me a story” (not like Peter Falk, may he rest in peace) type narrator. The land varies...
